Unfortunately, this service was the most upsetting and traumatising experience I’ve ever had. My mother and I are still settling from the ordeal.
Communication with their driver wasn't clear at times. The driver arrived at 9pm! Company protocol states no deliveries after 5pm. We tried to get the treadmill into the house in the dark, but at first try were unable. I then asked if we could load it back onto his van so we could unload it through another door. He didn't want to do it, saying he wanted to go to Auckland immediately and left my treadmill outside in the grass. He put all the blame on us and I told him he hadn't completed the job. He then said to keep my money and proceeded to leave, abandoning my treadmill. I was in total shock.
He proceeded to leave and his van got stuck. He soon realised he needed our help to get his van out and started requesting this and that of us. He was very disrespectful and rude. He reluctantly agreed to help us load the treadmill back onto his van, so we could drive it around to the other door and unload it there. We called a neighbour to come and help and after many unsuccessful attempts to free his van, I asked him if we could get the treadmill back off the van and try again to get it through the back door and we were finally successful without his help. He literally just stood there and watched!
And then he still continued to grease up and get us to sort out assistance to free his van. His poor attitude and the absolute lack of professionalism was disturbing. We did everything in our means, above and beyond to help the driver with no help at all from him and that's what we found very disappointing about this service. He said that he and his boss didn’t have AA Roadside assistance and expected us to get him out using our membership, but it doesn’t work like that, you need to have your own membership. I find that very difficult to accept that a business does not have any support for their drivers at times like this.
Another neighbour came to our assistance and pulled his van out in the morning which meant that the driver slept in his van that night. There was absolutely no way we were inviting him into our home to sleep as we hadn’t felt comfortable or safe the whole time around him. Usually in a situation like this we would easily invite him in, but not in this case. I couldn’t sleep that night. That’s how unsafe we felt. We went out of our way to remedy this situation using our community contacts and whānau and not once did he utter a ‘thank you’.
Before leaving he asked me to put the moneys into his account. I said that I had emailed Wise Move to make a complaint and to sort this out. And that really pissed him off. I said that I would pay, but I wanted to make a formal complaint. By this time, we really were scared and just wanted him gone. We even asked our friend to wait until the driver had gone. I told the driver it was a horrible experience and then he just spoke right over me the whole time. He wouldn't listen, saying he was the victim and that we were the worst customer ever and repeated "You keep my money, you get rich! I am the victim." He complained again about coming all this way to the middle of nowhere, insulted us again and finally left, just horrendous. Only then did our friend leave.
Through Wise Move I offered a partial payment to NZ Wide Services to reflect this bad behaviour and customer service. To me, a partial payment is an acknowledgement of the trauma caused to me and my whānau. Unfortunately, the boss of NZ Wide Services felt strongly about the full payment and I promptly paid. It was important to me to write this review to warn potential users of our experience with this particular driver. I will never ever use this company again!
