We selected Furniture and Freight Distribution Group for our Auckland to Wellington move based on their positive reviews and assurances that they could accommodate all contents of our two-bedroom home.
Prior to the move, we supplied detailed photos and dimensions of our furniture, garage items, electric scooters, artwork and motorcycle. We repeatedly checked that everything would fit and were assured it would.
On moving day, we were unexpectedly told there was insufficient space and that some items would need to be left behind. We later learned another customer's household contents had been loaded into the same truck, something that had never been disclosed to us. As a result, we had to arrange separate transport for our motorcycle at a cost of $400 and personally transport multiple loads of household items to Wellington.
While travelling to Wellington, we were also asked to change our delivery time at very short notice because the movers needed to catch a ferry for another job. To help them out, we accepted a 10pm delivery, which meant unloading late into the night after an eight-hour drive and paying for accommodation we barely used.
To make matters worse, one of our bedside tables arrived damaged.
While the movers themselves were polite, the planning, communication and execution of the move fell well below our expectations. We paid $2,750 for what was supposed to be a full-service move and ended up incurring additional costs, inconvenience and property damage.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not use this company again.
