Moving handled with care

Our experienced movers are known for their strong work ethic and have earned a reputation as some of New Zealand’s most reliable moving companies.

Our movers go the extra mile to deliver the care and attention you expect from an experienced moving company. Whether you need packing materials or practical help preparing for moving day, our teams work to make your move go as smoothly as possible.

Whether you need a single item shifted across Lower Hutt or a home moved across the country, we can help. Our experienced and skilled moving teams handle relocations of all sizes promptly and efficiently.

Our movers take care of the heavy lifting and loading, carefully protecting your possessions throughout the move. As expert removalists, they plan how to stack your boxes and furniture to protect both the contents and their packaging. The trucks and vans used for your move are loaded to maximise space and keep your belongings secure.

To help the moving company handle your belongings safely, avoid overfilling your boxes and aim to keep each one below 20 kg. Use smaller boxes for dense items such as books or tools, and clearly label heavier boxes HEAVY. Our movers position sturdy, well-packed boxes beneath lighter items to help protect delicate belongings. Boxes containing plates, glasses and other fragile items should have FRAGILE clearly displayed on the top and sides.

While there are many items we can move, some items cannot be included in standard moving loads. These include hazardous materials, explosives, firearms, illegal substances, expensive jewellery, cash, and perishable or frozen goods. For everyone’s safety, keep these items out of your packed boxes and discuss anything requiring special handling or separate transport with the moving team before collection.

Fully equipped

Our moving teams in Lower Hutt treat every home like a tight-access project. Before lift-off, access is checked, stairs and door widths are measured, local parking or loading zones in Lower Hutt are confirmed, and a simple load sequence is mapped so move day feels calm and organised.

Protection comes first. Floor runners from the door to the truck, corner and banister guards on tight turns, and full pad-wrap or shrink-wrap before any item leaves the room.

Lifts and stairs are handled with control, not muscle. Powered stair climbers take the strain on heavy pieces, four-wheel dollies keep loads stable over distance, sliders help on narrow turns, and strap systems enable precise team carries.

Inside the truck, nothing drifts. Items are loaded by weight and room order, then secured to E-track/tie-rails with load-rated ratchet straps and soft ties. Load bars create tiers, isolate fragile pieces, and keep the centre of mass low for a smoother ride across Lower Hutt streets and nearby roads.

Disassembly stays tidy and reversible. Beds, tables and modular sofas are taken down with the correct tools; hardware is bagged and labelled per room; detached legs, shelves and glass are wrapped and bundled for quick, exact setup at destination.

• Core kit on every Lower Hutt move: floor and stair protection, quilted blankets, shrink/bubble wrap, dollies and sliders, strap systems, E-track or tie-rails with ratchet straps, load bars, labelled hardware pouches.
• When required: powered stair climbers, piano/skid boards, ramp extensions, balcony/hoist solutions, and custom foam or crates for delicate finishes.

Weather and buildings are planned for. Sealed truck bodies and rain covers keep items dry; ramps and floors are dried between trips; lifts are protected and pre-booked where needed, or the move is staged with stair climbers if lifts aren’t available.

Fleet matched to the address and volume: compact city vans (8–12 m³) for tighter Lower Hutt streets and underground parking; furniture trucks up to 30 m³ for larger homes. All vehicles are fitted with tail-lifts or ramps and proper tie-downs.

From first pad to final placement, the sequence stays consistent: protect the property, wrap and prepare each item, load by plan, secure for transit, then place and reassemble by room—careful, methodical, on schedule across Lower Hutt and surrounding suburbs.

Full-service movers in Lower Hutt

Wise Move provides flexible moving services throughout Lower Hutt, tailored to your belongings, property access and schedule. From a single furniture delivery to a fully packed house move or office relocation, our experienced moving teams carefully manage every stage from collection to delivery.

Our furniture movers in Lower Hutt can provide packing materials, protective wrapping, loading, transport, unloading and unpacking as part of your booked service. We handle apartment and office moves in the city centre, furniture removals in Petone, and household moves across Naenae, Taitā, Wainuiomata and Eastbourne. Single-item collections, storage moves and long-distance removals anywhere in New Zealand receive the same meticulous handling.

Lower Hutt includes flat valley-floor neighbourhoods, hill suburbs and coastal communities, so access varies from one address to the next. Depending on the building, a city-centre apartment move may require lift or loading-zone planning. Before moving day, our teams confirm stairs, lifts, available parking, loading space and carrying distances at both addresses so the right moving van or furniture truck can be prepared. For regional moves, State Highway 2 is the main route linking the Hutt Valley with Wellington and Wairarapa.

Beyond packing and furniture transport, Wise Move movers can assist with agreed preparation tasks such as disconnecting accessible washing-machine hoses, securing appliance cords and preparing pianos or other instruments for moving. Specialist items should be confirmed in advance so the correct handling method and protective equipment are ready. At delivery, unpacking and standard whiteware reconnection can also be included when confirmed in advance, provided the task does not require a licensed trade.

For a complete move, our removal teams in Lower Hutt can add a clearance service to your booking. Unwanted furniture, household belongings and office items are removed efficiently, with reuse and recycling prioritised where practical before responsible disposal. This is a convenient option when clearing your previous property, preparing a new space or reducing what goes into storage.

Share your inventory, access details and preferred services before moving day, including stairs, lift bookings, oversized items, packing, clearance, unpacking or whiteware assistance. This allows Wise Move to prepare the right moving team, equipment and truck for a smooth move. Full packing service

We know what matters when booking a moving company: careful handling, secure packing and belongings that arrive safely. Our experienced packers in Lower Hutt handle everything from delicate ornaments to bulky furniture, preparing each item with care and attention to detail.

Experienced moving companies know that good packing saves space and helps the move run smoothly. We pack everyday belongings efficiently, making good use of box space and keeping everything secure. Larger, valuable or delicate items receive protection suited to their size, material and condition.

Fragile packing – Antiques, valuables and delicate keepsakes receive extra protection with bubble wrap before being carefully placed and secured in suitable boxes. Our packing teams take particular care with fragile edges, surfaces and individual components.

Blanket wrapping – Large or bulky items are wrapped in thick protective blankets to help prevent scuffs and scratches during transport. This is especially useful for furniture that cannot be dismantled or safely packed into boxes.

The care you expect from a moving company extends to your home. Our Lower Hutt moving teams use floor coverings to help prevent scuffs during the move. Where access is tight, our movers can assess whether doors or windows can be safely removed and refitted to allow larger items through.

The right moving truck for every Lower Hutt move

Choosing the correct furniture truck is an important part of planning a safe and efficient move. A vehicle that is too small can result in unnecessary return trips, while an oversized truck may be unsuitable for narrow streets, steep driveways, underground parking, or properties with restricted access. Before moving day, our Lower Hutt movers review the volume of your belongings and access at both addresses so the most suitable truck or van can be allocated.

Moving vans and furniture truck sizes

Our Lower Hutt moving fleet includes compact vans, high-roof cargo vans, enclosed box trucks, tail-lift furniture trucks, and larger removal trucks. Vehicle capacities vary between teams, but the following guide shows the types of moving vehicles commonly available:

• Compact moving vans — approximately 8–12 m³: Ideal for single-item deliveries, Trade Me purchases, student moves, studio apartments, and lightly furnished rooms. Their compact size makes them useful for narrow Lower Hutt streets, city-centre collections, underground car parks, and properties with limited loading space.
• High-roof and long-wheelbase vans: Designed to provide additional height and loading length while remaining easier to manoeuvre than a full-sized truck. These vans are well suited to mattresses, wardrobes, sofas, appliances, boxed belongings, and smaller apartment moves in Lower Hutt.
• Small furniture trucks — approximately 15–20 m³: A practical option for studio and one-bedroom home moves, smaller office relocations, or several large pieces of furniture. Their enclosed bodies provide excellent protection while still allowing access to tighter residential streets and driveways.
• Medium furniture trucks — approximately 20–25 m³: Commonly used for one and two-bedroom homes, larger apartments, storage-unit moves, and small commercial relocations. These trucks provide space for furniture, appliances, cartons, outdoor items, and other household belongings in one carefully planned load.
• Large moving trucks — approximately 25–30 m³: Best suited to larger two and three-bedroom homes, substantial furniture removals, office moves, and long-distance relocations from Lower Hutt. Their larger loading areas allow our movers to organise furniture and boxes efficiently while maintaining safe weight distribution.
• Multiple-truck moving solutions: For large Lower Hutt homes, offices, commercial moves, or properties containing a high volume of furniture, our teams can allocate additional trucks or complete the move using a coordinated combination of vans and furniture trucks.

These capacities are a general guide. The amount that fits inside a moving truck depends on the size, shape, and quantity of your belongings. Bulky sofas, assembled wardrobes, large appliances, outdoor furniture, fragile items, and unusually shaped pieces may require more space than standard moving boxes. Our teams take these details into account when selecting your vehicle.

Fully equipped furniture removal trucks

Our Lower Hutt moving trucks are prepared for professional furniture removals. Depending on the vehicle and requirements of the move, they are equipped with loading ramps or hydraulic tail lifts, internal tie rails, load bars, ratchet straps, protective moving blankets, furniture dollies, trolleys, sliders, and specialist lifting equipment.

Enclosed cargo areas help protect furniture from rain, wind, road debris, and changing weather conditions. Inside the truck, furniture is wrapped and padded before being positioned according to weight, shape, and unloading order. Heavy and stable items form the base of the load, while fragile pieces are separated, cushioned, and secured to prevent movement on Lower Hutt streets and surrounding roads.

Tail-lift furniture trucks are particularly useful for heavy appliances, commercial equipment, pianos, safes, oversized furniture, and items that cannot be safely carried up a conventional loading ramp. For Lower Hutt properties with restricted access, a smaller moving van may transfer belongings between the address and a larger truck positioned nearby.

How we select the right moving truck

To determine the correct truck size for your Lower Hutt move, our teams consider the number of rooms, estimated furniture volume, quantity of moving boxes, oversized or specialist items, stairs, lifts, driveway conditions, parking restrictions, loading-zone access, building height limits, and the distance between pickup and delivery.

Providing an accurate inventory, photographs, and details about both properties helps the team prepare the best vehicle and equipment. When access is difficult, the move can be planned around a compact van, a smaller furniture truck, staged loading, or additional vehicles. For larger moves, the team can arrange a high-capacity truck or coordinated multi-truck service.

Every move is different, which is why we do not rely on one standard vehicle. Our Lower Hutt moving teams are prepared with a complete range of moving vans and furniture trucks for single-item deliveries, apartment moves, house removals, office relocations, and long-distance moving.

From the smallest collection within Lower Hutt to a complete home relocation across New Zealand, the goal is always the same: arrive with the right-sized moving truck, load every item securely, use the available space efficiently, and complete your move safely with as few trips as possible.
