TERMS AND CONDITIONS WHEN BOOKING VIA Wise Move - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING - Updated June 2021

1. All deposits are non-refundable unless the job is canceled by us. This is to compensate for the time and dates reserved specifically for your job. If NZ Home Movers (JTL) cancels the job due to unforeseen circumstances, your deposits will be fully refunded.

2. Please ensure your Wise Move inventory is as accurate as possible. We allocate trucks based on this estimate and failure to list all goods may result in additional charges or items being left behind. Last-minute capacity is often sold at a premium.

3. ALL GOODS ARE CARRIED AT THE OWNERS' RISK. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CLAIMS.

4. Goods carried into the property are taken at the owners' risk. We do not accept any liability for damages to the property at either end.


INSURANCE:

Personal effects, electronics, and household goods are deemed to be transported at the OWNERS' RISK and we do not accept claims pursuant to the Carriage of Goods Act 2015.

Should we be deemed responsible for intentionally damaging or losing items, our maximum liability will be your $200 home and contents insurance excess. You will be asked to file a claim.


We can also arrange Carrier's Liability Insurance.
* Needs to be pre-arranged with us and will incur extra costs, arranged through a third party.
* Maximum Claim for Carrier's Liability: $300 per item (beyond repair) if insurance is added.

Moving Day:
* All removals must be packed and ready to go.
* We do not assemble or disassemble furniture or move whiteware off cabinets.
* Our staff can assist in putting furniture in rooms, but this is done at the owners' risk. No liability is taken. No assembly or disassembly is included.

Television Sets:
Please note:
TVs that are not in a box are not covered by our Goods in Transit insurance if damaged. It is the customer's responsibility to box the TV (WE TAKE ALL CARE BUT).

MIRRORS:
ALL MIRRORS SHOULD BE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES. WE WILL DO OUR BEST BUT NO CLAIMS WILL BE CONSIDERED.


Packed Boxes:
Please note that the maximum weight for an item is 20kg, according to OHS regulations. Customers often pack boxes that weigh 40 or 50kg, which is not acceptable. In such cases, we will not accept any claims for damages. It is the customer's responsibility to pack boxes weighing no more than 20kg and with a maximum size of 50cm x 50cm.

Packaging:
All goods are to be packaged and ready to go on Pickup Day. If goods are not packaged, we may cover them with moving blankets for the journey, but no claims will be accepted if furniture /item is damaged or arrives dirty.

Car / Bike / Motorbike Parts:

We do not accept claims for second-hand parts or fittings.

Chest of Drawers:
All chests and drawers must be empty and not filled with clothes or belongings. This makes it harder to lift and increases the risk of breakage during long trips. No claims will be accepted if boxes are filled.


Terms and Conditions for Cancellations:

In the event of cancellations or change of mind, the following applies:

Pickup cancellations 96 hours or earlier:
40% of the full booking cost.

Pickup cancellations 24 to 96 hours prior to pickup:
50% of the total cost.

Pickup cancellations 24 hours or less:
100% of the full cost.

The customer will be billed accordingly and must pay within 2 days. Failure to do so will result in the matter being referred to a debt collection agency such as Baycorp. We will also bill Wise Move for their 15% commission and any cancellation costs.

SOUTH ISLAND BOOKINGS:

If a ferry has been booked and the customer cancels, they will be liable for the full ferry costs. The above cancellation policy also applies.

When booking:
Please note that quotes are based on the inventory list provided on the Wise Move platform. We do not charge by the hour but according to the list provided by the customer. Any additional items will incur extra charges or may be left behind.

PAYMENTS:
Payments must be made on or before the delivery day. No other terms are allowed.


Unpaid Bills:
Unpaid bills will be referred to collection agencies for collection. All costs will be borne by the customer.

If you want your stuff broken and damaged use these guys. The two women (one called Tania) who picked up my furniture from Auckland were unfit and unqualified for the job. They broke a huge bit of wood off my dresser worth $1100. Their attitude was terrible. They did not give a shit and just laughed and said “glue it back on”. They put my dehumidifier (worth $600) up on the truck and let it roll off where it smashed onto the concrete below. The response - do you want to plug it in and see if it still works? My large wooden mirror (worth $300) was dragged along the bottom of the truck that had raised grooves with no carpet or rugs underneath to protect it. A blanket was carelessly draped over the top but not put underneath it to protect it from the truck deck. I repeatedly had to ask her to pick the mirror up and place a blanket underneath to protect it. She finally did it. But then positioned the mirror at the back of the truck against the door. I asked her to please protect it better by putting it securely between the bed mattress and bed base but was ignored and told that everything had been loaded correctly and how it should be. Which was bullshit and she clearly doesn’t know how to do her job. I have moved multiple times within Auckland with just family for help and none of my stuff has ever been damaged and yet I pay a professional moving company to move my things from Auckland to Blenheim and 3 items get damaged just on pickup. When I got my mirror back in Blenheim the wooden edge that was dragged across the truck was severely scratched. I messaged their boss Jerald. I did not receive a single apology. My dresser and dehumidifier that I could have sold had now lost a significant amount in value. As a measure of goodwill I would have thought a business would apply a discount to their customer after such an appalling experience but no instead I got told I should “be thankful” for that price and that their terms are clearly stated on their website. Their terms are not clearly stated and when I signed up to use these guys through wise move no terms or conditions were emailed or clearly stated to me before I agreed to use them which I think is deceitful. The terms state that I move my stuff with them at “my own risk” and they are not liable for any damage. It definitely would have been good to know that in advance especially since it seems to include careless handling by incompetent staff.
The communication in general was awful. Jerald always communicated over wise move messages and sometimes these messages were not very clear/did not make sense. To try improve communication I tried to call but got no answer. I then sent a message for him to call me with my number but instead he continued to communicate over message. The 2 guys (“Storm” and another) that delivered my things in Blenheim and unloaded were good to their credit. However they appear to have lost another clients box that was suppose to be delivered to Christchurch on the same truck. I was contacted to see if they had accidentally given the box to me in Blenheim. No they hadn’t but I hope the lady gets all her belongings. Generally a very shit and stressful experience and I would not recommend.
