2 Bedroom + Garage move:
Have to start of by saying overall was very disappointed with the move and the service provided, expected much more based on the reviews and the fact that the movers spoke both Cantonese & English was a big draw for me and my family and the fact that they reached out first was also what we thought was a good sign.
Move to moving day, the team was prompt with their arrival time, however that's when I noticed the following :
1 - The 1st thing I noticed was the 2nd mover wearing glasses that arrived with Vincent halfway through the move started spitting on the ground when he was moving in and out of the garage and I felt discriminated as the way he spoke in Mandarin while looking at me talking to Vincent and continually using the word for Mandarin in Mandarin while looking at me
2 - The second thing I noticed throughout was the fact that throughout the moving of our furniture, while trying to be quick and efficient, it turned to the movers being quite rough with the furniture, the dryer pipe used to vent hot air was ripped while having it taken out & fully ripped off by the 2nd set of movers . Also after going back to the old property once all the big furniture was moved, it seems while trying to move out a dresser from the back room, that the back room window was cracked that was not there before
3 - I was quoted as per below $680 but no mention with the services that the " handling of furniture " would have an extra cost which was disappointing it was not stated in my messages with the team. This part I was very disappointed and surprised with.
4 - The attitude by the younger mover when the 2nd set of movers came as the 1st set had to leave mid job (which was disappointing as well in of itself , due to another client who was not taking no for an answer, and there was less than 10 items left to move as well ) he was very arrogant , telling me how I should be more organized with what items needed to be moved, I would like to point out for the young gentleman that his job is to help move, not dictate how he wants to decide what and when he should move the items, also kept asking questions to compare himself and the other mover to the 1st set of movers in a measuring content way which was unprofessional.
5 - The last 2 points I wanted to bring to attention was the fact that both Vincent & his partner littered their empty drink cans and bottles of both properties, there were recycle bins around that they could have used and I would have been more than happy for them to use rather than throwing them on the ground, also when moving the bed and electronic lazyboy chair the screws needed for the headboard & plug needed for the chair to be able to recline it was missing. When contacting Vincent he described the wrong bucket they had put it in and also took the screws making it a annoying 1st nights rest with a wonky headboard (unsure why this wasn't passed to us instead )
Overall just really disappointed with how it was handled overall from the " trying to be quick and efficient but just rough with the handling of the furniture ", the lazy method of chucking all the boxes into the garage and not stacking them properly & lastly the attitude as mentioned above^ . As we are now fully moved in and settled, we're not looking for any form of compensation, just to say overall it was a really bad and not pleasant moving experience for me and my family and made for a stressful first night in the new home. The movers themselves seem to have an attitude problem when I suspected they found out I don't speak Mandarin Chinese. I felt I was given attitude for not being able to speak their language. I was bought up speaking Cantonese and not Mandarin.
Response from Ants Movers
Good evening, Joseph
Firstly, I'm very sorry that you feel our service is not satisfactory to you. However, I need to clarify a few points with you:
1. Firstly, we arrived on time as agreed. According to the list you provided, we arranged a 20-cubic-meter truck and two workers, including myself. But the items you actually brought exceeded the items on your list. Our quotation was based on your list. During the loading process, we had already informed you whether you wanted to load the second truck. The total price of the second truck was 900 dollars. After you asked your mother and she agreed, we began the loading. We had already informed you that there were additional charges. Did your items exceed your list? Your boxes were only 20 in number? In fact, you had a total of 200 boxes.
2. We arrived at the site and you basically didn't tidy up anything. The ground was in a mess, and the house was full of garbage. We still had to clean up the garbage before starting the loading. Your mother came over and told us that your father had just passed away not long ago. Please be careful during the loading. We had packed your furniture and the marble tabletop for you. You said we were very rude to your furniture? Our customers who have used us know that we always help customers pack their furniture for free.
3. We helped you dismantle the furniture for free, but your house was in a mess. We couldn't find the power supply and screws of your massage chair immediately. It should have been your own responsibility. We sent the screws back to you the next day.
4. We placed all the boxes according to your mother's request in the garage. Some of the boxes were not placed by us but by your relatives. You only had a budget of 680 dollars, but you wanted us to do the whole day's work. Do you think this is reasonable? During the loading process, we took photos. If you need them, we are willing to provide them to you.
5. We are all Chinese. Why do we need to give you a dirty look or even say you are discriminated against? Such heavy furniture, when we went to your new home, we even took off our shoes to serve you. Do you think we are not respecting you? The things in the cabinet were not taken out. Do you know how heavy your cabinet and the marble are? If we got injured, would you compensate? Have you thought about this question?
6. Why do our workers keep spitting? It's because your boxes and the furniture in your home have been left unused for far too long, causing our breathing to be obstructed and filled with dust. You yourself know that you should wear a mask. So what should we do?
7. We have never touched the glass of the window. We also have no idea why it cracked. I don't know why you wrote this. Could it be that you think everything that goes wrong in your home should be blamed on us? We have already free-ly disassembled and assembled your bed and the washing machine/dryer. The dryer's exhaust pipe fell off on its own because it was too old. You think this is our fault. If you don't think my explanation is clear enough, I'm more than willing to go to your home tomorrow and explain it to you face to face. Thank you!
Our company has been in operation for such a long time and has never received an evaluation like yours before.
