About us

Fridge

Extremely unprofessional, careless and incomplete moving service.

My parents booked this contractor through Wise Move to deliver a refrigerator, while my wife and I separately arranged our household move through the same platform. The contractor persuaded us to withdraw our booking and pay him $1,250 directly, which we now deeply regret.

He arrived approximately two hours late for collection and three hours late for delivery, having scheduled multiple other jobs around ours. Halfway through the journey, while in possession of our belongings, he demanded payment of the remaining balance before delivery. We reluctantly obliged in good faith.

The refrigerator was transported lying on its side and was subsequently damaged while being manoeuvred through our front doorway, with insufficient care taken to avoid contact with the door handle.

When the fridge would not fit through the kitchen doorway, he left it in the middle of our hallway, which obstructed access to the house. We expressly asked him to relocate it into the garage so we could resolve the issue the following day, but he refused.

At approximately 9:45 pm, in the dark, he left a substantial amount of our household belongings sitting outside on the front lawn and departed without completing the unloading despite us expressly asking him finish the job. My wife and I were left carrying heavy furniture at 10:30 pm which we could not get in the front door because he had left the fridge blocking the access.

We were very surprised that he just left despite us asking him to help us move the rest of the belongings. We then sent him message explicitly asking him to return to the house and finish the job to which he did not respond.

Two days later he called and repeatedly blamed us for booking only one person, insisting his job was simply to deliver the goods, despite our original Wise Move quotation specifically requesting assistance with loading and unloading. As customers, we reasonably relied on his professional experience to advise us if additional labour was required.

His conduct was extremely unprofessional. He even told my wife that she was only agreeing with me because I was her husband, which we found deeply disrespectful.

Two days later, we offered to settle the matter amicably with a modest $300 partial refund. He refused, and his attitude during our subsequent telephone conversation was equally disappointing.

We appreciate that moving furniture long distances is demanding work. However, this does not excuse damaged belongings, an obstructed entrance, an incomplete service or disrespectful treatment.

What should have been an exciting day moving into our new family home became an extremely stressful experience. We paid for a professional moving service that was not completed. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend against engaging this contractor, whether through Wise Move or directly. It is very clear in hindsight why he was asking for more payment upfront. Please don’t make the same mistake as us.

I had to move a very heavy vintage billiard/pool table. It was tricky to move, and the guys did such a great job with traffic and wind challenges. They were so polite and careful with it. They made it all very easy. I would recommend them to my family and friends to use when you want to move items. Karen
